Couple Ques. re best blank decal stock/brand & technique?

My LHS ranks the blank decal stock for inkjet printers thusly:

Ques. 1 Whattya think?

However, when I used the sample pages of Testors that came with my decal kit, trying to make small black background with white letters for a number board (not too small…3/32nds) I was not satisfied. The suggested settings for injet were normal dpi and normal paper, but the result was not sharp and bluish rather than blackish.

When printed at max dpi on higher quality paper setting I could get an acceptable sharpish set with a deeper black…but still I could see under the magnifier that the background looked “cracked” like lizard skin. It was not noticeable to my unaided eye, but I know it was not as black as it could be because of the patterning. (This cracking is extremely obvious when printed on transparency setting.)

Ques: 2 Is there such a thing as decal stock for laser printers, and is the result better with laser? If so, I will use the printer at the wife’s office.

Here we go , my opinion

I have tried many brands of decal paper, I have found the paper from Micro-mark tools as the best I’ve used. I’m not dissing your printer , but the printer is the main problem with making decals. As for settings I use photo quality and glossy photo paper setting to make decals .

And yes they make decal paper for laser printers. Even then watch out for cracking of the laser image. they crack easily.

There are threads about making decals all over the board, try a search.
