I did a quick forum search but couldn’t find any discussion of converting the Spectrum n scale F7 A and B’s to MT couplers. Has anyone tried this and how difficult was it? I believe these engines have truck mounted couplers and would use MT 1128, 1129 or 1130 couplers. I’ve done one conversion of an older LifeLike engine with truck mounted couplers to 1129 (rear) and 1130 (front --I think, I might have those reversed) and found it a hassle (a lot of delicate shaving of the draft gear box to get the coupler to fit and operate) although somewhat gratifying once completed hours later. Should I expect the same with the Bachmann? Any feedback people can share is appreciated, thanks.
Micro-trains web site lists #1128 conversion for the spectrum (new) F7 a-b combo, don’t know how difficult it will be but they usually make the newer conversions somewhat easier to do. I know what you mean about having to shave and fine tune some of the older conversions, and it can be a bear, but the end result as you said is satisfying.[:D]
