Careful now, EZ mate has 2 versions, one without the spring (garbage) and the Mark 2 with the spring. I bought some of both, the regular easy mate, learned in 15 minutes, I wasted my money. The Mark 2’s haven’t had a problem since installing about 3 weeks ago. Jim
Yes, I thought that the general consensus was that the E-Z’s with the spring were pretty decent. It’s just the ones with the plastic friction arm that are useless. The only other shortcoming I’ve heard about is the shanks breaking under extreme circumstances due to being plastic. (Which of course won’t happen with KD’s, which are metal.)
BTW, How do the centering “whiskers” on these hold up? Do they also “give up the ghost” with use/time? (I don’t currently have a layout and was recently sorting and cataloging my rolling stock, and noticed that some of the couplers were leaning to one side. Probably due to the way they were packed, my son boxed most of everything up.)
