Coupler suggestions

What type of coupler would fit an Atlas SD35? The plastic ones I took off were secured with a pin on both ends of the body shell. There doesn’t seem to be room to mount some Kadee’s. All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Is this for HO? The HO SD35 is a simple change to the Kadee #5 using the Atlas box.
The coupler box is held in with a phillips screw on all ones I have.

Hi Len,

The information given is accurate, but just posting a website like that seems a little flipant to me.

If you go to the Kadee website (as given above) click on Conversions in the menu bar at the top, select you scale. Then simply look for your make and model of loco or car.

Try this from the Kadee site:

At one time, and I think they still do this, Kadee offered a package of ONE each of their various couplers and draft boxes. This was a very useful way to test what works. It was a bit pricey but a good investment. I bought mine long enough ago that they have introduced all sorts of new products since.

Yes Kadee kit #13 I think it’s called, I have the kit, It includes one of all their couplers except the new whisker. Found it very useful in finding the right coupler .[8D]

This sounds like the ‘old’ Atlas SD35 from the late 70’s(Rocco). The plastic ‘horn-hook’ coupler was just ‘pinned’ into the pilot. Use the above mentioned URL: http://www.kadee.com/conv/pdf/atl18.pdf
This has a nice diagram of the conversion.
