couplers

hi iam wonder what kind of couplers i can use to replace all of my old horn couplers also what size to use .[?]

Depends on what type of freight cars you have and what scale. If it’s HO scale,go with Kadee # 5 couplers. Used them for years and have had no problems with them.

Patrick

thank you. it is ho scale ihave freight, tankers, ect… will kadees work on all

Yes Kadee couplers are the practical Universal Standard for all HO modelers. Kadee’s # 5 Coupler fits about 90% of all needed applications. And if you have an odd ball and need a special coupler. Kadee makes 23 Different styles other than the #5 to fit different mounting situations. I am sure one of them would fill your need. And this doesn’t even cover the growing line of “Scale Sized” options that are now becoming available. (Starndard Kadee couplers are about 5% over size compared to scale)

Best advice I can give is to go to the Kadee website at www.kadee.com - they have information on what couplers fit which models. Also be sure to buy a height gauge - getting the height of the couplers correct is one of the most important parts of making them work well. Hope this is of use!

Yeah, Kadee #5’s. I use Accumates, but with a new, larger layout on the way, I’d better get used to Kadees again.

Kadee #5. Buy the bulk packs without the boxes. The 20 pack is the best value.

Kadee make a started pack with a variety of couplings that should give you a good idea of what fits where. It includes the height gauge, trip pin bender and an uncoupling ramp. Maybe something else.
#5 will fit most common cars, but don’t try to jam it in if another will work better. They all work together.
