A typical case of injustice prevailing over common sense.
As an area resident I’ve followed this issue closely. Mr. Freeman has a reputation as being notoriously anti-transit. He is the owner of one of the largest upscale retail complexes in the region. Reports have been made that he is concerned anything that competes with private automobiles would have a negative impact on his business.
Residents in the Puget Sound area have been supportive of mass transit after years of traffic gridlock. Amtrak and Sound Transit have healthy passenger usage. It’s a shame that one very wealthy individual can almost usurp the will of regional voters and commuters by consistently trying to derail efforts to make mass transit something accessable to all.
Peter has expressed a personal opinion.
Of course, it’s OK for him to do so.
Now will he please explain the logic supporting his position?
In his view, exactly how does that court decision represent an “injustice”, and exactly where’s the lack of “common sense”?
Mr. Benham, I see, has issues with the development of public conveniences. I’m sorry you feel that way. Development of public mass transit projects are one way of addressing highway overcrowding - a major, major problem in Seattle - thus benefiting all the citizens of Seattle.
A wonderful case of common sense prevailing over someone who apparently likes sitting in heavy traffic every day.
Peter, my thoughts exactly!!
I-90 was built to do what Sound Transit intends to do. Kemper Freeman has been trying to block every single means of public transit possible and the selfish-short-sighted person that he is is probably one of the main reasons the county is behind so many others when it comes to moving people.
