CP and CN SD40-2 Nose lengths

Anyone know what length are the CP and CN SD40-2’s noses 81", 88", 116" or 123"

Can’t really help you overall, but CN’s SD40-2’s all had wide cabs so there wasn’t any nose lengths. CP had varied lengths, but I’ve never paid much attention to them. There is a CP Yahoo Group that might help, you can subscribe here: cpsig-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

CP had different lengths, CN had wide noses. So the answer is : depends on the specific road name/date.

Cp had 88’s and the larger snoot noses.Mind you they bought a lot of second hand SD40-2’s from american railways as well UP & KCS amoung others. the sig group on yahoo would give you the best answers ,that and a roster book you can look up the build date an it should tell you the length that the locomotive was built with. CN inherrited and bought standard cab SD40-2’s for tehir GTW and DW&P lines and inherrited IC’s as well most of those had / have 88" noses.
