When I was thinking of railroads they would want to buy out, I had no thoughts about the Iowa Interstate being on their list.
Now I don’t really know if the Council Bluffs intermodal terminal is in danger, but I definately know the Chinese QJ locomotives are, not to mention the old Standard Cabs, and possibly the rails east of Davenport will be reduced to just local traffic or sold.
Is there a link for this? I can’t find one. No news item on either the IAIS or RDC websites about a sale.
Who is Coleman? IAIS is owned by Rail Development Corporation headed by Henry Posner. The steam engines, although carrying IAIS marks, were bought by RDC. Next weekend, (6/8) one will be used on fund raising trips for a western Iowa community fire department.
There was talk on the IAIS Yahoo group as to the possibility of the IAIS being one of the targets of the CP announcement about acquiring regionals and short lines. Most thought the IANR (Iowa Northern) which has a working relationship with CP would be a more likely target. Even with that most think that neither is really for sale, unless enough cash is thrown their way.
As of two minutes ago there is NO announcement of any such transaction on CP Rail’s web site. There is no factual basis to the original post or the thread.
I would agree with Mac. The whole basis of this thread seems to fall under wishful thinking. Besides, it doesn’t appear that Iowa Interstate would fit well with Canadian Pacific.
