Are any of you familiar with the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train? I don’t live in MN any longer, but I still get the small town newspaper where I grew up and they have had front page pictures for weeks now advertising this annual event. Anyway… the promo shot shows the CP diesel with 13 cars and all the cars decked out in lights. Performers travel with the train and live in the vintage private rail cars. The cab has a little Christmas tree on top. One of the boxcars acts as a portable stage. It is simply amazing!!!
Note to MTH or Lionel… THIS WOULD BE AN OUTSTANDING HOLIDAY SET!
You could have fun with the sound system… and a operating boxcars with performers playing instruments and singing/dancing.
Hello Greg! Scranton,Pa was one of the places this Christmas Train would visit. I do not believe it was there last Christmas as it goes around to different places in the Country. I second your notion that it would make a neat Christmas Train for under a Tree.
I absolutely agree that this would make a fantastic set! I live in Canada and saw the train when it came through my hometown a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I missed out on opportunities to see it this year. I know that it’s much more impressive now than it was before.
I saw the Holiday Train several weeks ago as it passed through our North Illinois town. It was about 10° outside and the train was a half hour late. But when it arrived, it certainly stopped traffic as it passed through. The visit to towns along its journey is also tied into local food donations. It’s a worthy cause and and quite a sight to see!
