Cp Rail and Semi full of eggs

Has anyone heard of or seen pictures of an incident up in North Dakota I believe, with regards to the CP hitting a semi full of eggs. Word is that all involved, both train crew and truck driver, got out safely except for the eggs. Something like 26,000 cartons of eggs didn’t quite clear the rails in time. Was also informed that the C P engine was yellow after the incident. Looking to see if anyone out there knows about this. Would like to see some pictures.

I really doubt pictures were taken, because railroads don’t take pictures of accidents, and the police only does it if someone got killed or a huge derailment happened, which then the media would then take pictures. Otherwise, there would have to be some lucky duck to have pictures of it.

I believe you’re mistaken concerning “railroad” photos and accidents.

The Railroads and Police do take photos of accidents involving the public.

I won’t mention the NTSB.

When I was a kid, living in Garrett, IN…the Capitol Limited hit a trailer loaded with Joy Dishwashing liquid one evening, the engine was damaged and had to be towed back to the roundhouse at Garrett so that sufficient repairs could be made to take the engine to the Glenwood Back Shop at Pittsburgh. While the engine was still at Garrett, an early evening thunderstorm struck with several minutes of ‘frog drowing’ rain. Once the rain stopped and you looked over at the Roundhouse, all you could see was a suds pile, and underneath all the suds was the engine…I wish I had had a camera.

When I was in junior high, a train hit a semi full of apples near our school. There was apples everywhere in the ditches, and everyone was told to leave them alone, as they were covered with diesel fuel. The next day, there were dozens of kids home sick from school who had eaten the apples.

What was reported was on KSAX TV news the accident took place one mile West of Barrett MN.

I work at a supermarket…cleaning up one egg is a pain. A trailer load? Can’t even picture it.

If the locomotive was clean afterwards, the Joy company should have contacted Amtrak to use the locomotive as an example of how good their product is.

“Joy: if it can get the stuck on grease off this locomotive, imagine what it can do for your dishes.”

Hahaha!!! Good idea!

This occured many years before Amtrak was even an idea, let alone a reality.

“What was reported was on KSAX TV news the accident took place one mile West of Barrett MN.”

Guess I was mis-informed about the location. Went to the KSAX TV site and found nothing there. Am sure the C P web site is quiet on this. Thanks to everyone who chipped in on this request. Pistol Pete

Yes, there is a picture

It seems that Barrett is near the ND line, so that part is accurate. the Grant County Herald, in their online edition, www.grantherald.com, has the story and a great picture, with the headline shortage of egg nog foreseen.

Hope all of you have a great Holiday season,

Mac

HA! I would hate to be the guy who has to clean this one up…

Well thats better than a truck full of isopropyl alcohol.

I like my eggs scrambled…but that’s a bit much.

Thanks to you memphisrailfan38118 for the tip on the article and to myred02 and SimRacin 40 for the picture you both added. What a mess. I know the crew that was invoved from C P and just had to see how it ended. Thanks again to everyone… Pistol Pete

Hmmmm… now THAT’s an ugly paint scheme![;)]

Must smell pretty nasty!

Look, CP has egg on its face! At least on the dash 9 …

Judging by the looks of the rest of the paint on the locomotive, it’s almost an improvement…
