CP Rail engine struck by bullet

This is from a Calgary Sun newspaper from yesterday.

A pair of Canadian Pacific Rail employees were shaken up after finding the cabin of the train they were tending had been hit by a bullet.

“We’re certainly taking this very seriously,” said CP Rail spokesman Ed Greenberg.

The train was hit by a single bullet at about 7 a.m. Wednesday while it was waiting near Bassano, about 80 km east of Calgary said Greenberg.

He said the bullet impacted the window frame of the trains’s cabin and the loud noise drew the attention of two workers on the train, who found the bullet.

Greenberg said there was no indication the train was actually the target of whoever fired the gun, but CP Rail police patrol have been stepped up.

CP Rail and the Bassano RCMP detachment are investigating the shooting, although it is assumed to have been a stray shot from an unknown source.

“There has been no indication of threats being made to the crew or to the company prior to the incident,” said Greenberg.

Looks like someone thought that that bright red locomotive was a deer. LOL

Ed, as possible as that is, I’d say that it’s more likely that whoever was shooting was aiming at a deer, but (obviously) has lousy aim!

I doubt that it was a hunter, not much hunting round those parts! But boy, close to home, and it makes you wonder…

Honestly, thats a pretty easy mistake to make, if the lights arent on, looks just like a deer

Considering I had bullet holes in a White trailer one time during deer hunting season in WI that is waht you call the ultimate case of BUCK FEVER. Maybe the engine had the beaver logo on it. LMAO

Well, the locomotive was very near the Blood Indian Reserve, maybe they were trespassing?
