I am returning to the hobby after a long time away and am busy building an HO scale switching layout. The layout occupies a space in the basement about the size of a small room. It’s a U-shaped shelf layout with off-layout staging at either end, a few industrial spurs and a small yard.
Right now I’m just finishing the track-laying/wiring stage. Next will be fascia and scenery.
It’s roughly based on Canadian Pacific operations in west Toronto, which is where I live.
There are links on my blog to other room-sized, modern HO scale layouts, and links to other MR sites that interest me.
I’m always interested in checking other layout websites, particularly other switching layouts set in the modern era. If you see anything that fits this description, please pass it on.

Looks like your off to a great start. I railfan the CP’s ex-MILW. line, CN’s former WC / SOO Waukesha Division, and a little bit of UP (mostly where the CNW ran).
Every lay out I’ve put together through the years, it was always a toss-up as to who to go with. The SOO, then later the WC stole my attention, so my tracks have mostly WC operations, with a few of the others thrown in for the fun. I still have a lot SOO power, and CNW.
Here’s a shout-out from another CP-SOO 'fan from the Midwest. While my primary line is UP on the former C&NW lines I also have a smattering of WC and SOO equipment to facilitate interchange between roads. The latter is waiting for Bowser’s new GMD SD40-2 to be released - a pair to run in CP candy apple red along with my Atlas SOO wide-vision caboose in brown. That set should look sweet rolling a transfer into my UP yard on my proto-freelanced Burlington Sub.
