CPRS Locomotive Shortage

I was talking to a few crew members from CPRS and they told me that CP has a loco shortage (even though they just got a load of AC44)… I was wondering if anyone knows if CP is looking into getting more locomotives?

What is CPRS ? never heard of this before, I have heard of the C.P.R. or CP rail.

CPRS stands for CP Rail System and was used to refer to Canadian Pacific and its US subsidiaries, it is no longer in use. With reference to the power shortage the first five of CP’s new ES44AC locomotives were sitting on the NS Interchange track at Erie, PA on 11/1/05 awaiting paperwork for delivery. They are numbered in the 87xx series and will be officially Soo Line engines home based in St. Paul, MN but will roam the entire CP System.

Just read CPR bought 60 new ES44AC’s from GE numbered 8700 -8759, ( I don’t know where the other locomotive went???) I don’t know if they have them all yet.

Maybe CPRS shouldn’t have sold all those SD40-2’s to NRE until they got their GEVO’s.

As for where the other loco went ,it’s there. #s 8700 -8759 is a total of 60 .

CP got ES44s? Aw, I was hoping they would get SD70ACes…I am tired of GE after GE spoiling my veiw of the rails. How many SD40-2s do they have left?
Matthew

My hope was that they would get the SD70ACe’s to but after they got theSD90MAC’s I dont think they were to impressed with EMD’s locos, at least compared to the GE AC4400.

Any one know if they stayed with the desk top cab or went to the standing?

Oh, bu the way, CP 8622 was after the time of CP Rail Systems. Unless you are talking about a GP9? NITPICKER!!! (Referring to myself)

Is it me, or does the current CPRS scheme seem a little plain or unproportioned? Those GEVOs just don’t look quite right to me.

I hear that CP will be putting on the beavers themselves.
The bat wings on AC4400 kept one of my photos off of railpictures, and now they are worse! Why…
Matthew

wow those look plain without the beaver

Looks to me as though there is no flat surface big enough for the Beaver with all those doors and louvers and handles and whatever!

That’s the problem with newer GE units!

enough with the GE’s lets get back to the sd40s

darn straight.
I saw a train haded by CP8700 in Banff the other day, and the next day I saw CP 9133 and a KCS SD70ACe in primer.
