CP’s Harrison outlines plans to reduce workforce, examine D&H operations

Looks like the last days of C & NW

Well, I had hopes for EHH, but if every profitable company followed this attitude, pretty soon all the consumers that buy the products that the RR’s haul would be gone, and the RR’s would be next to idle. CPR is a profitable organization, its shareholders have already realized a tidy profit this year. There is no need for slash and burn

Reduce the number of jobs in the middle of a recession? Awesome idea…

In the year 2018 CP buys surplus locomotives and fixes what Harrison screws up

In a corporate fight did you expect any different circumstances. A company always rededuces cost on the backs of the employees, but to save a railroad you gotta do what you gotta do. I wish CP the best, but it seems there is going to be a lot of heartache on the way to fiscal health. Maybe a knight in shining armour (i.e. another railroad can save it)

American Red Cross listed at goodsearch.com & isearchigive.com .

Hunter Harrison will do exactly what he did with CN Rail…run CP rail into the ground

Freddy Frailey must be besides himself. If he knows so much then why isn t he running CP and not Hunter Harrison?

Sir William Van Horne must be weeping in his mausoleum to see what Harrison is doing to his once-proud railway. I’m glad I’m retired and glad I sold my stock in my former CPR employer.

Just what the economy needs- another rich person eliminating 4500 more jobs!

I disagree with the doom and gloomers. If ever a railroad was top heavy, both in management and labor, it’s CP. It could indeed be a leaner, more efficient railroad. Everything from difficult terrain to Harrison’s American roots, to misguided uber nationalism have been trundled out as objections to the change he brings. I suspect many of the criticisms are union driven. But for the first time in a long time unions are facing real competition and their Marxist agenda just doesn’t fly anymore. The days of work unable to be completed until the union guy shows up are fading fast.

CN is the number one railway in North America.
Very aggressive in acquisitions, lowest operating ratio by far,
and great R&D investments.
Do not sell EHH short.
CP will become a lean and mean railway, despite itself!
EHH has his eyes set on CNN and no one else.
CPR will be driven to be a rival to CNN as this is the railroad to emulate!

I assume that the DH includes the lines going through Scranton Pa. These lines may end up adding commuter rail, perhaps from Binghamton, through to Hoboken or NYC via the Lackawanna Cutoff which is slowly mile by mile coming back to life through the efforts of New Jersey Transit. Parts that are single tracked ought to have double tracking restored and track speeds increased, and there is a lot of local freight activity.
