CP's Mpls/St.Paul "Shortline" bridge burned.

I thought this was interesting…the CP Rail bridge over the Mississippi River between downtown St.Paul and Minneapolis (the old Milwaukee Road “shortline” bridge) was severly damaged by a fire apparently caused by kids with fireworks. Why kids would go to the middle of a 150’ high bridge to do fireworks is kinda beyond me. Looks like rail traffic (and industries served by the line, particularly grain elevators/mills) will be affected for at least a month as the bridge is now unuseable.

BTW fireworks for private use were illegal in MN until they were legalized a few years ago by Gov Jesse Ventura. [V][censored]

Ah Youths…

The bright shining stars of the future shine forth again. Too bad they didn’t start themselves on fire…

Scary part is that they apparently had what are considered “professional” grade fireworks, thought sale of those was limited to certified or licensed pros??
