CR/CSX/NS SD Family

How many ex-CR SD70’s, SD70MAC’s, and SD80MAC’s are still operating on the NS and CSX in CR Blue Colors? If anybody knows, what unit numbers are they? They seem to be dwindling to the horse quicker now than they have been in the past as they come up for rebuild and other maintenence, I’d like to catch one here on the UP, or even trek to the NS or CSX before they’re all gone.

Here’s the current, complete list of units left on CSX . We’re down to 5 “MAC’s” and might be down to 4 before the week is out. Good luck finding one…I haven’t seen one in 8 months, and I live next to their 50-train-a-day mainline to Waycross, GA!

Woah, thanks, that helps a bunch!

Well, there are still those 80MACs running the coal trains to the Keystone Generating Station in Shelocta, PA. Some are still in Conrail blue, though others have met their darkened future. I really want to take all the pics I can, but high gas prices have effectively ended my railfanning. Someday, if I ever get my railfan site up, I’ll post the link, and you can see the pics.

I saw a SD70M in the Conrail quality paint job in Cajon pass this weekend.

I’ve seen plenty of SD40’s and SD50’s and 60’s…but I’m very interested in the newer stuff since they didn’t have much of a chance to buy much modern 3rd gen. power before the split.

lms 7918 was going south through deshler on saturday.

I still see plenty of ex-CR units still in blue with the ‘Conrail Q’ logo here in Syracuse NY.

If it had a whiteface nose, that would be one of the SD70MACS built in Conrail paint that went to CSX…if not a whiteface, then it would have been an SD60M or SD60I…

I see ex-CR units every time I go to Fort Worth. Usually C40-8W’s and SD50’s

Saw an NS patched GP38-2 and a CSX patched LMS 8-40CW just last Friday.
