Crash National (CN) derails yet again.

Word from another rail forum is:

CN train M38731-22 derailed south of the Detroit MI area on Monday,
January 22nd at approximately 1510hrs EST. This incident is currently
blocking the main line between Detroit and Flat Rock.

I have been told that track maintenance is not progessing quickly because the materials and labor force to maintain track have not been raised to levels for the amount of increased traffic.

CN Management, please invest in the physical plant.

Andrew

NO NO NO…You got it all wrong, its CRAP/CRASH/CRAZY NATIONAL!!! Sure CRASH does sound right but there are so many bad words that you can give a railroad that turns against railfans more than anyone in the state of Wisconsin.

CN and CSX… Twins seperated at birth…

… or a marriage made in heaven. They have so much in common. [:-^]

I thought CSX had that title, ya know…CSX:
C-rash
S-top &
X-plode

but…but…but… I thought everyone loved CN, doesn’t every railway have derailments??? the more you haul the more the chance of an accident. c’mon, quit picking on those Canadian guys.

Ya,but it’s so fun.

When CN calls police or even send thier own guys after you on public property, its worth running them down! They have turned quite a few of the WC guys against railfans. Thankfully there are still a few WC guys that won’t let CN take the pleasure of having a good day on the job.

Some official at CN told me to “take off, hoser!” when I asked him about it. Eh?

I’m confused, when did Bob & Doug McKensey take control of CN?

I warned everyone here 3, 4 years ago that this would happen. But nooooo! I was just a whining Canadian employee of the company who was going to find out from the new masters how they really run, I mean ruin a railway. After surviving 36 1/2 years and with only a few more months to go before retirement, I really don’t know if I want to put my life in the hands of these owners and use my long service pass during my twilight years. At this rate in a few years the CNR will be on the chopping block and sold at a fire sale prices. A mere shadow of it’s former self. I just hope the pension plan survives.

Still a Proud Canadian in the Signal Department of the Canadian National Railways.

I have been wondering when (or if) you would show up on the forum again. I’ve missed your refreshing and brutally honest perspective.

I remember your posts regarding the deterioration of the CN and how you could see from the ground up what was happening.

You are fully justified to say, “I told you so”!

“You are fully justified to say, “I told you so”!” Thank you, zardos. I’m really going to miss the job, but not what I have to go through to be able to show pride in my work and still come home after a long day knowing that I did my best under these trying times. Yet, I must be doing something right when my immediate supervisors value my input and knowledge. It’s a shame it means diddly squat to the upper echelon. I still have many more productive years left if I decided to stick around. But why should I? There are many others who are justified in thinking as I do. And the company is bleeding red as we retire. We’ll take our knowledge and experience with us and leave the company to fend for itself. When the motivation to excel in our jobs is constantly trod upon, why prolong the agony?

Many cities require their police and fire personnel to live in the city they serve; perhaps railroad managers and executives should be required to live along side the tracks of the railroad they “manage”. Perhaps then the issue of safety would superscede the issue of immoral profit.
