Created printed paper awnings (HO)

I created new awnings in Photoshop (stains and all), printed on medium laser stock. Built a small styrene support frame and CA’d the paper to that (the small bleeds of CA helped the weathered effect). Then simply used thinned acrylic matte black for a bit more stains. Last step was to use a Dremel to scuff the edges, fringe, and profile curve to get a canvas effect. This is my first pass at this, biggest thing I’d change is the overall size, I think this is a bit ‘big’ for the building.

I think it looks pretty good. A tad shiny, but that’s easy to remedy. As far as size, perhaps hold off judgement it’s in place on the street. In the context of street and sidewalk it may be fine. One of the things I notice when looking at old photos on Shorpy (www.shorpy.com) is how much less crowded some of our towns looked back in the day.
