crossing gates

I installed a circuitron dt-1 and I can get the lights to flash and bell to ring and the gates go down, but when it goes over last sensor the bell & lights stops but the gates do NOT go back up.Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

I’m sorry, can’t help you. I am posting this so that I can see the answer when someone posts it.

I love to learn new stuff.

I have no experience with the Circuitron DT-1 but it sounds to me like the device is cutting off all power at the last sensor, including the motor drive to raise the gates. My only suggestion is to carefully go back through the installation and operation instructions and insure that everything was done exactly in accordance with them, paying particular attention to which sensor is connected as the “last one.” You may have this sensor and the previous one reversed. If all else fails, contact Circuitron because you may have a defective unit.

I noticed on the Circuitron web site that the DT-1 cannot detect a short train that doesn’t keep at least two sensors covered as you go through the grade crossing. Perhaps that’s your problem.

Wow, this seams like a really cool project, can you take a look and make sure I picked the right things before I checkout. I just don’t want to get something that won’t work and I’m new to DCC.

DT-1 Grade Crossing Detection Unit

BR-1 Bell Ring Circuit w/Bell
Railroad Crossing Signal w/Gate pkg(2)

I think these are the 3 things I need since the signal comes with the lights and tortise motor. Just let me know what you think and I’ll check out!

Does anyone know if those 3 items I got will work. I think they will, but want to double check. Any luck on getting the gates back up?

Yes,those will all work fine.I found out that I needed a DPDT relay to get the gates back up after crossing last sensor. You might need one also. ( circuitron ER-2 relay #5624 )

I have read also that you need the ER-5624.Even is one was to go with Dallee Electronics you need relay 555 toraise the gates.Even if you use Circuitron’s DT-2 you need the ER-5624.Circuitron 's products are very good. Steve Church Milwaukee Road Iowa-Illinois Division
