I have a prototype crossing signal that I have pieced together from purchases here and there and would like to get it to work just like the real thing. I understand that it requires a flasher circuit chip called a 555CN Timer IC to get the lights to alternate but I am not sure as to how to wire this up since I am not electronic literate. Each of the four bulbs is a 10 volt bulb and naturally two of them must be on at the same time to properly flash and the IC regulates the speed of the flash somehow. I don’t want an automotive flasher since that would not be realistic. I am a model railroader who would like to set this up as a display in my backyard. Any help would be much appreciated.
With all the comments about malfunctioning crossing signals in another post I was hoping someone could help me here. By the way there are four bulbs total in the signal; two on each side. Does anyone know how these actually flash?
Hi-
You may get an answer to your question if you post in a more-trafficed part of the forum, this part gets almost no traffic. Here’s the link to where you want to post.
Good Luck!
