Ok i give up ive tried everyway of making a crossing for traffic on a spot on my layout but cant get it right or it derails the train any help would be great.

How about describing “everyway” - with photos maybe?
I’ve got a three-track grade crossing, two with Walthers Cornerstone grade crossings (the type that mimics the rubber ones) and a Blair Line wood one.
No problems.
They do look somewhat better than this photo of them:
I used .06" sheet styrene cut to shape. You just simply glue it to the top of the ties after you get to the shape it needs to be. If you are using code 83 track, this is the perfect size. It works great, and I have not had one derailment because of it. Here’s a pic.
Or you can use old cuts from ties from the track if its HO cut off all the tabs and glue em
3 wide and keep checking the leanth
Thats what i found i was in the same spot at one time
Carl…
I did the same thing as Kevin, ie styrene cut to shape. I’ve had no problems thus far.

some times re-railers work good also,I’ve used them with no problems.

[#ditto] i use rerailers. I made 2 out of popsickle sticks and one out of plaster. All work perfect without derailments.
I can supply you with a concrete grade crossing in styrene, check http://www.summit-customcuts.com/pages/11/index.htm
