crossover wiring

This is my first post, so I hope it is in the right place. My layout is a dog bone style. I put in a single cross over so that one end of the dog bone would be a reverse loop using the PM42. I figured that I had to double gap each leg of the crossover, but my locos totally stall on the cross over track, at the double gap there. Can anyone point me to where I can see a diagram that might help me get this right? The MR basic wiring book only seems to talk about double cross overs in a dc system and my limited wit can’t seem to get a handle on it. Rick

A separate pair of feeder wires need to be connected between the PM42 and the reverse section of track beyond the insulated gaps. It sounds to me like there is no power at all to that section.

I did set up the far loop on my track with a separate feeder to the PM42, and hooked that up with that section set as an AR section. The locos will run the entire track okay. They just die on the cross over. I’m certain I have feedeers into that area, but 'm going to check that again. thanks Rick

Good Grief!!! I just went back to the layout. Looked at what seemed to be sufficient feeders. Read decent voltage on either side of the double gap, but thought well it can’t hurt so I added another pair of feeders. Bang! She works. One of these days I may actually begin to understand electricity. Many thanks for the input. Rick
