Has anyone modeled a crude oil transfer ,truck to rail operation ?
Way ahead of you.
No Wait, that is 1:1 scale. Google’s map could be updated: There are four tracks in that first loop, and the second loop is now complete with two tracks. That is a dirt road to the right of the frame, and that is where all of the oil trucks enter the plant, sometimes they are backed up for miles waiting to unload. And there are six unloading stations.
Just to the west of this (photo left) is the new diesel refinery.
Here in Richardton, Halliburton is building a similar termianl fro the unloadg of fracking sand. It will have at least two loops and several tall concrete silos for holding product. East of Richardton another rail facility is being built for the unloading of pipes and other materials. They will have about 14 miles of tracks in just over a square mile of property.
In between them is the ethanol plant with four miles of tracks (1 two mile track and 2 one mile tracks).
BNSF is building a new radio tower in town, it will be over 200 feet tall.
They are also going to build a wind farm here and those towers will be over 250 feet tall not counting the blades.
The largest gas well in North Dakota is not too far from here, although I never knew that until I saw it on a map.
BTW: We also ship grain (and bricks).

Br. Elias, with all that building there you should open the rest of the monastary and rent out rooms. Just don’t let them take the Transet room.
Tell us how all that acomodation is being handled?. Richardson is not that big.
Johnboy out.
No chance of our renting out rooms. All of our rooms are in use, and we do have a building of guest rooms, but they are not available for that sort of use. Monks are not supposed to be “city people”. We do have three square miles of land, but we are not planning to develop any of it. We have been asked, but have always turned that down. We like The view outside of our dining room window just fine.

Here’s the crude oil unloading facility im my city. Oil comes from North Dakota and Alberta for our local refinery, the largest in Canada.
Thanks all This info has help
RailPhotog, Is that St. John, NB? I think I have seen that unloading facility in person.
Yes, the facility is in Saint John, N.B. We like to spell out the name so as not to be confused with St. John’s in Newfounland.
