I see Cryotrans box cars regularly. They are white with orange trim and they each have a different name on the door in the middle of the car. Is there a place where a person can get a complete list of these car numbers and the name associated with each ?
The great majority of the names that I’ve seen on the Cryotrans refrigerator cars are place names for specific towns and locales. I don’t know if there is any special significance to them.
You may have to ask somebody at Cryo-Trans (www.cryotrans.com) specifically for such a list. I’d hold off for a while, because they’re in the middle of receiving a large order of these cars, and many of the older ones are being retired as a consequence. There is no significance to the names, and I certainly like the idea–some of these places are certainly evocative to me.
By the way, I’m responsible for the name on CRYX 3099–“Proviso”. I suggested it to the lady who was in charge of such things back then (she’s since retired, and I’ve not been in touch with her replacement).
If you want to make a list, you could start with this-
