Has anybody ever herd of it?? Has anybody ever seen it?
Are the things that happened there true?
And im not trying to start a fight here, im just asking these simple questions.
http://www.shadowseekers.org/moonville.html
When I typed in “moonville tunnel” into google images this is what I got --spooky.
This will be strictly personal opinion on the existence of the paranormal–some will say yes and some will say no–just as long as they all say it politely.[:D]
im not asking about the ghost stuff, i just wanna know if those accidents really accured there.
“A brakesman on the Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad fell from the cars near Cincinnati Furnace, on last Tuesday March 29, 1859 and was fatally injured, when the wheels passing over and grinding to a shapeless mass the greater part of one of his legs. He was taken on the train to Hamden and Doctors Wolf and Rannells sent for to perform amputation, but the prostration of the vital energies was too great to attempt it. The man is probably dead ere this. The accident resulted from a too free use of liquor.”
The other two recorded deaths in Moonville are: Raymond Burritt, an 18-year-old killed in a mine explosion; and Charles Ferguson, who was killed in an interesting way while crossing the tracks: the train he was waiting on to pass snapped in two and he stepped out in front of the second half without looking in its direction.
According to one website these are the only recorded deaths involved with the tunnel.
By recorded I believe they mean local publication.
Nova55–how did you come across this???
how did i come across what?
This particular tunnel. This one seems to have one heck of a history behind it. I was just wondering what sent you down this path. Had you heard the ghost stories? Do you live near there?
iv seen a ton of pictures from there, herd many storys. i plan to visit it in the near future. im about 15-20 hours from there.
When you do visit I hope you takes pictures and come back to this thread with your experiences there. Maybe you will discover something interesting.

See the site above it is full of info about the tunnel and the town… oh yah and the ghosts!

Very interesting. I enjoy Ghost stories. Maybe we can send a ghost train down there and the ghosts can ride the line to jacksonville to haunt CSX HQ?
I know this can’t be the only haunted tunnel and or railroad. Due to the nature of trains they lend themselves quite well to the “Ghost Story”.
What about an excorsism. Did you know that the Vatican still employs priests and other high-ranking clergy as excorsists. I guess after the famous movie, you never know where Pazuzu will turn up next.
Yes I did know that. By the way–if you know someone that needs one, there is a website that offers them. NO LIE. LMAO
Big_Girl_4005,
There is a book out, called Ghost Trains I think, that lists ghost stories of tunnels, bridges, and stations. I think it sells for about $20.

Thanks for the tip Tracy15. I’ll have to check the local Barnes and Noble. I love reading about this stuff and while I don’t believe every story unconditionally I will admit to believing in this stuff more than the average person due to personal experience(although none train related[:D]). Call me what you will but that is my [2c].
