Hey,
At what time did CSX acquire #5934 from NYSW?
Hey,

Sometime in the early 90’s around 90 or 91.

CSX bought the 20 B40-8 locomotives in 1989 and leased them to the NYS&W for the operation of the D&H. When the NYS&W lost the bidding for D&H during 1990, they returned the locomotives to CSX, which renumbered them into the 5930s.
NYSW still had a few -840s until a few years back, they are all off the property now. They also had the SD70s which are long gone too.
It seems like NYSW doesn’t have a good record with keeping Locomotives in there rosters!
They really don’t… they recently acquired a group of Alcos which made things interesting, until from what I understand they ran them until they just wore out. But they do have some interesting power sometimes.
The SD70’s are still NYSW’s. Sometime ago they leased them to the Indiana & Ohio on a longterm lease. Three of them are now leased to FEC.

Has anybody planned to cut and paste rosters from CSX and NYSW to compare their fleets and the disposition of units?

CSX 5934 is currently lashed up to CSX 6022 and being used in heavy switching at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant near Louisville.
Does that plant build pickups or larger trucks? I thought the Louisville plant built Ford’s heavy trucks (the “Louisville Line”), and I also thought Ford had sold their heavy truck operations to whatever group brought back the Sterling nameplate for heavy trucks. Any info/corrections appreciated.
The Ford Kentucky Truck Plant no longer builds the large tractor type trucks. That line was sold some years ago. The pickup trucks are what remains along with the name of the plant. And the 5934 has moved on as it was not there the last time I looked.
I managed to get a cab ride in a B40-8 before they left the NYSW. It was also the last excursion train they operated too. Now the bigger railroads control rates and there are no more of these.
