Doesn’t appear to be a big deal - AVP Engineering will be retiring this fall, and his replacement has been named, as well as for several other positions as other “bumps” upward will occur - Chief Engrs.-MOW North, South, and Capital Projects, etc.
And CSX will still loath about having to build one more mile of track. Fingers crossed that mentality will change and they will start running trains.
And all those guys mentioned in that piece are no spring chickens. All you young railfans reading this take note. Opportunities available in things other than t&e. I think I chose the wrong department at times (well, most of the time anymore).
It isn’t a generation gap, it’s a chasm…and the new hires have exhibited a 50:50 chance of not sticking, despite fairly decent pay. (button pushers don’t fare well in an hands-on environment with weird hours)
