CSX Ethanol Trains on the Boston Line?

I was recently listening to the http://www.railroadradio.net/ scanner feed from Palmer, MA. I looked at the schedules and noticed CSX K638 and K639 on the schedule, noted as ethanol trains.

What’s the story with these? Where are they going, and when were they added? I’ve been railfanning the Boston line for over a year now, and I’ve never seen or heard anything about ethanol!

Any help would be appreciated…

10% of every gallon of gas you pump into your car is Ethanol. In the northeast it’s required by the Feds, each State must add it to cut down air polution. Your Gas Pumps are so labled. The P&W has been hauling a lot of it.

The gasoline is pumped into the Norteast by pipe lines, Ethanol is added at the local oil depot before delivery to the gas stations.

I notice P&W delivers significant numbers of Ethanol cars to the port of Providence. I gather that the product is blended with fuels arriving by sea at the tanker truck loading facility there…

So from Palmer (the furthest point East that I know they pass through) they go onto the P&W? Or maybe somewhere else along the Boston line? I know there’s no ethanol terminal in Boston, but there is some sort of tank car facility in Westborough, I believe. There always seems to be a bunch of tankcars there.
