CSX eyes expansion at Ohio intermodal facility

Another case of corporate welfare. When CSX first proposed this facilty, they claimed it was for block-swapping only - and that there would be no truck traffic. A complete lie. I-75 is at or above capacity in the area. If we are going to spend taxpayer dollars, use the money to widen I-75 to 3 lanes in each direction.
Why not four lanes trucks only. Seriously it’s bad enough being beside one truck on a rainy interstate adding lanes would make it worse. One car length is less than twenty feet, most trailers are fifty. Which doesn’t include the tractor.
The more jobs , the corporate blackmail…
besides the tax breaks…
So, we need to borrow money from the Chinese to help csx build this expansion? Last time I checked, csx was making plenty of money.
Railroads are the bright spot in our economy and still they want a government handout. Do any other taxpayers see their pockets being picked over and over again by the railroads?
Let’s stop letting the air traffic controllers pick our pockets too. They’re government employees. Delta & American Air don’t pay them. Truckers too. Trucks don’t pay up front for interstates. Make everybody pay.
Well I gotta agree with you guys. I work for CSX and find it interesting that they come to the government for cash when they give a decent dividend to their shareholders. I would assume that as an employee and a shareholder I’d really like to see them do the building themselves but corporations now a days find no problem coming with hat in hand…and now I suppose stiockholders expect it too.
