A freight train derailment in Fonda, NY, is affecting freight traffic in the area, and could cause delays of up to 48 hours for shipments over that route. Some freight is being re-routed where possible.

This will impact all freight traffic moving between Chicago and NY/NJ & New England.

East bound train hit SINKHOLE derailed. Westbound went into emergency and appeared to derail but reason not yet disclosed. ( hit east bound, or derailed into sinkhole or derailed due to emergency braking ??? )

Must be quite a sink hole. Service still disrupted for Amtrak.
