CSX seems to run their grain trains at 65 cars.
Why this size? It seems more cars would be more efficient, or am I overlooking something?

It might depend on the size of the terminals the unit train needs to go to.They interchange with the I&O at hamler and the CF&E in Lima.Plans are still in the works for a 75 car loading facility here in Defiance.

Here through Van Wert on the CF&E with CSX locos they run 65 car and 90 car unit trains. Their ran when needed/ CFE has crews. I have also seen 130 car and 180 car unit trains. Those are just 2 CSX grain trains in one, when as I said before CFE has available crews. Have saw the same trains EB/WB a few days apart.
