CSX had a bad day Wednesday because of trespassing in NJ.

I am just amazed even in our local area at people who have laid down on tracks drunk regardless of the time of day. The last one I know of here was .35 Blood alcohol level and it was a woman at 4 in the afternoon, and one at midnight walking on train tracks that the engineer called in to report a manikin on a track he hit. When the cops got there it wasn’t a manikin. I just don’t understand people who jump over coupled trains, under wheels, at crossings and it happens all the time!

I have been picking up remains on train tracks for 26 years. The one thing I have always noticed was the train was ALWAYS on the tracks. It didn’t jump off to go after the person. Yes, tragic accidents occur. 99 percent of the time it is not the engineers fault. He didn’t tell the car to stop between the gates. He didn’t say it was ok to walk/sit/party on the tracks. He didn’t call for a race to see who can get across before he hits them. People do stupid things, all the time. Tell your crew IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT!!! People who kill themselves are selfish and don’t care who they affect. It happened, it was a terrible thing to see, but forget it. Don’t let it eat you up. Everything happens for a reason.

just my opinion.

My support goes with the train crew. Encourage them to take time and talk it out… in their own time… and don’t worry if it hits you in Walmart carpark two years later… it WILL go. Take it easy.

From practical experience…

If you are near an incident and don’t have to be there… Don’t go there
If you don’t have to look… Don’t look.
If you have to de-train passengers get the fire crew/rescue to line up so they don’t see anything… saves picking up the ones that faint.
Screw the media!
If you’re a passenger… be patient… and ignore anything you might hear rail staff/emergency crews say… we’re “surviving”… I could quote stories but Bergie would have to remove them.

And, if you have to be involved in the clean-up, wear all your Personal Protective Equipment.

… and before you leave for work each day… give your loved ones a hug.

anybody remember that train incident where that man put his truck on the tracks where he was doing a sucide, but turned into a homocide.if any of you dont know or dont remember, the train hit the car then the cab car hit another train then THATtrain hit a small i think BNSF which then tumbled off the tracks.so that guy was reall stupid for doing a neclegent thing like that.luckily he was caught and prosecuted.

I’m am guessing that the overwhelming number of these deaths are suicides, not accidents. How can a pedestrian be accidently struck by a train. Like you aren’t going to hear it coming in time to avoid it. If someone wants to ca***heir chips, the railroads shouldn’t be held responsible for stopping them from doing it. Safety measures are not going to stop determined suicides.
