a csx train has jumped the rails in north baltimore ohio.north baltimore is east of deshler on the willard sub.14 cars are reported off the rails. hasnt been a good week for csx in ohio.will do some more checking…

It always seems that when a train derails on double track there is another train on the other track.

There is also a report of a derailing in Baltimore, Md on a CSX line.
That is a mess.
Any idea of how long it will take for CSX to clean up and at least get trains moving? That will probably shut down the line for nearly a day.
The TV station did a pretty good job reporting. That one car was really smashed up.

heard on the news that some road might be closed for 12 hours while they clean up the mess.also the priliminary investigation says the west bound train somehow wanted to go down the siding for a local elevator.will keep ya posted.

I heard about at least one train going up north from Deshler and back down to Fostoria to get around this wreck. They’ve had a pretty rough week in Ohio!
I am sure Fostoria on line is interesting.

q110 csxs hot intermodal train is one of the trains that took this route.according to the latest reports csx estimated slow traffic returning by 3 am.the rest of the clean up will take longer.the first driver whose car was smashed was taken to another hospital but reported to be in better condition.the other 2 drivers were treated and released.Angels were working ot today and i pray for all the families involved.

havent heard if csx is able to run trains through north baltimore again.Bob Loe the guys car that was pancaked is in serious condition at Toledo hospital and the north baltimore schools are on a 2 hour delay today.hope things get cleaned up and Bob heals quickly.

tracks have been reopened.the cause of the derailment apparently was a loose chain on the flat car.it grabbed a switch handle for the elevator and had enough force to enable the switch causing the derailment.csx said it would redo the switch alignment to prevent further accidents.Mr Loe(whose car was pancaked by debris) is still at a toledo hospital.I still pray for all the families involved.

So, was the initial report of a car running into the train incorrect? The report from Thursday indicated a car ran into the train and caused it to derail. Were these two separate incidents? Or did the car not run into the train?

yesterday on www.railroad.net Fostoria talking about the derailment.
No car ran into the train, the only cause of the derailment was the chain catching the switch lever.
the sherriff reported that the cars were waiting at the railroad crossing when the derailment happened.no one was trying to beat the train like many other drivers here in ohio try to do.
