Well, Hillary just said yesterday, she’s going to do away with coal. Unfortunately, I’m sure the R.R. unions will still endorse her anyway. They don’t support anyone else. I know because I dealt with it for 43 years. Looks like it’s coming home to roost.
Hillary was just being clumsy with her speech. She in-artfully was trying to say that government policies were causing coal miners to lose their jobs, so government policies should do what they can to increase employment in renewable energy in those areas hit by coal-related job losses. She needs to be careful about how she words these things because people will jump on one phrase like “we’re going to kill coal miner’s jobs” and run with it.
You mean she has to be careful about telling the truth. As to what she said, it seemed pretty specific to me.
Maybe when she is in prison she can explain it better to her fellow inmates. There’s always hope.
As the artcle said, the price of natural gas is the culprit thats killing coal. And then again try reading last months TRAINS for just a little insight into Appalachian coal and its demise.
Why, if you were a power generator, why would you want to build a plant with a railyard and all it entails when you can have a pipeline come into your plant with as little as it entails.
Blame whomever you want but simple economics is killing eastern coal.
The cost to change a coal fired plant to a natural gas plant costs more than the savings from the change over…At least for the foreseeable future. Give credit to the administration’s stance on coal for “twisting the arm” of theses utilities to make the change.
Cheap gas and Obama policies are both contributing to coal’s decline.
Hey guys, I’m in a rr union (UTU) and I wouldn’t vote for that twit to clean coach car toilets. She is the worst, Hilary the commie and Dirty Bernie the socialist; so were Nazis. Look it up.
The state I live in the environmentalists are forcing our electric utilities to stop using coal fired plants by 2020 with the governor’s blessing(democrat) and the usual carbon credit BS. It’s not all economics about using natural gas instead. It’s also the out of control regulations that killing coal plants and the jobs that go with it. We can’t even construct coal and natural gas export terminals here because of the wackos preventing that too. Guess we don’t need anymore industry or jobs here.
charityusa.com and charity search engines.
Talk about stupidity and ’ coming home to roost ', the United Mine Workers Of America in the past has supported Hillary, Obama and the vast majority of the Democrat candidates, at all levels of government, over the past decades, UNBELIEVABLE !!!
The same thing would be happening if Romney was elected a few years back. THE PRICE OF NATURAL GAS is killing coal, plain and simple. Economics 101. Try it sometime. Would you buy gasoline for your car at$3 a gallon and get your windshield washed or get it at $2 a gallon and clean it yourself?
The end of coal was coming no matter who is/was president.
As usual it’s Obama’s fault. Guess what the deregulation of the electric industry has brought about the elimination of coal fired plants. You need to have a large foot print to store the coal along with railhead access… You also need to ramp up the plant to get it to full power and it requires a lot of people there to run it. With a natural gas fired plant you have a small foorprint and a lot fewer people to run it. You flip a switch and turn on your power generaters only when you can make the maximum profits and you shut it off when your profit margin is not good enough. It is the new business model for the electric power industry and it has zero to do with whover is on Capitol Hill.
