CSX Mountain Subdivision

Does anyone ever remember an article on a Model Railroad called the CSX Mountain Subdivision? I have been racking my brain trying to remember and locate this article. Any help would be great!

I don’t remember any CSX Mountain Sub layouts in MR over the last few years, and it seems like I would have taken notice since I am modeling the SAL/CSX. The only Mountain Sub layout I know of recently was Bernard Kempinski’s C&O Mountain Sub featured on the cover of the May/June 2008 N Scale Railroading magazine.

Do you recall the MR article as a layout tour or a track plan? Jamie

MORE INFO ADDED: I just searched the MR online track plan database for “CSX” and got only three hits: two for Monroe Stewart’s Hooch Junction and one for a Conrail layout. The only all-CSX layout I can recall in MR is Lance Mindheim’s East Rail switching layout in the 2008 Great Model Railroads. Let me know if you find what you are looking for because I would be very interested in such an article also.

One of the video companies, Pentrex?, has a DVD on CSX mountain operations.

DREAM-PLAN-BUILD DVD “The Sights and Sounds of Sand Patch” it’s all about CSX in the Allegheny’s. One of the keepers.

Hi: I had the same problem you appear to be having and this is keeping the joint tight and the walls flat. I think the whole mill needs extra reinforcing on the side walls. I also cut the viewing side of the building up to the next height so that you could see more of the inside. It needs more machinery and visually interesting clutter. I have a review of this in a forthcoming Model Railroad News issue. Also I found the roof wasn’t a easy as it looked and certainly isn’t easily removable as the instructions indicate. I’m building the old and new Rolling Mill’s, Electric Furnace and Blower house at the same time in the garage. Molding some interior details, electric boxes, lockers, workbenches, etc in Aluminite. The pic above is the Ashland Mill, only 3 sections long because I chopped up 1 section and made a CSX paint shop out of this (back on topic-sorry).
