I was looking at some pictures of CSX MOW hoppers and they all had solar panels on them. Why would they be equipped with solar panels? Just curious.

Solar power is to keep the batteries charged for the dump system.

That way you don’t need some one to walk past every hopper and manually open the chutes when you want it to dump.
