CSX opens rail line to Canadian intermodal facility
Im guessing CN is not happy.
So this is off the Watertown line???
CN has plenty of business. Valleyfield is about 40 km SW of Montreal and not on the island (it’s on its own, actually). However, Autoroute 30 which bypasses the island on the south shore of the St Lawrence R is not far away, and the Hwy 530 mentioned above is a tributary of it.
There has long been talk that CP would move it’s intermodal facility from being adjacent to CN’s to a point a few km to the NW of CSX’s new yard.
It’ll be interesting to see how much bidness they get. They already have and have had for years, run-throughs into Montreal. I think they interchange with CN near Coteau as well.
