Does anyone have some info on CSX that is very useful.
Wikipedia would be your friend on that one. And Google.
The csx website has their locations and maps in interactive form www.csx.com
Since CSX is made up of several legacy railroads you may want to pick an area of the US you model and then identify which one of the railroads were there in a particular time frame. It covers most of the US East of the Mississsippi River along with NS. Their headquarters is in Jacksonville, FL.
I cannot provide much more information than what everyone else has said, as picking an area of CSX would be the first choice. Now if you’re looking for their train symbols, then the basics are Q=General Merchandise, Autoracks, Intermodal, G=Grain trains, K=Bulk Comodity (rock, pipe, ethanol, etc), E, U, T, V = Coal, Z=Foreign Road operating on CSX tracks, Most of the other letters for trains would be locals of some form, and Y=yard jobs.
If I’ve missed any, then I apologize, but that’s what I remembered right off.
Very useful for what please?
Wikipedia or Google will give you a mass of information to wade through.
if you would like to ask for something more specific we can give you much more appropriate information.
For example do you want CSX info that would be useful for schoolwork? … or planning a layout? …or a railfanning trip?
