In 1981 our NRHS Chapter rode behind former C&O 614 on a one way trip from Charleston, SC to Hamlet, NC. I recall that it was a fairly busy place back then. Recently I saw a video that was shot in Hamlet. It seems most of the traffic is east west with not so much other than Amtrak operating north south. I wonder if CSX plans to unload this line onto a short line carrier or, since it is proposed to be part of the Southeast High Speed Rail system, sell it to Amtrak?
