CSX snauf in Terre Haute

Does anyone know why CSX would leave a train blocking a Major road in Terre Haute for 12 hours Friday - Saturday??? The majority of the train was in Baker yard with only a few cars plus the engines blocking the road. Surly someone could have broken the train to let traffic through.

There had to be an alternate route. right?

Betcha some one forgot he’d left the crossing blocked! In the words of the immortal Homer Simpson: D’OH!![banghead]

There’s a 2 track heading South from Baker to Evansville IN. And I know they had problems with switches being clogged with snow. But I still don’t know why CSX would allow a major road to be blocked for such a long time.

I would think someone in the yard could have broken the train or have the engineer of a passing freight do it.

Is there some kind of union agreement that will not allow it.

not knowing if there is a track or car problem the other answer is if a train crew comes along and moves that train they get alot of extra $$$ for moving the other train.they had a rookie crew that wouldn’t move a train back into willard after it was stalled just west of the yard.you should have heard all the other trains in the area.“you just lost some major $$ rookie”

stay safe
