CSX sponsors a Nascar Cup Car

Now this has to be a first. A Railroad sponsoring a race car. Who would of thought? The 78 Furniture Row Racing team is a middle of the pack runner most of the time but its going to be cool to see a CSX sponsored car on Sundays.

Since CSX is all over NASCAR’s back yard, it’s not too surprising that even an associate sponsorship was picked up. How long before NS does the same?

The could sponsor me … it would be a whole lot cheaper!

Mebe,BaltACD;

If you could find a Locomobile.

Possibly, we’d see TRAINS/ Kalmbach [bow]

want to sponsor you! [(-D][(-D][:'(]

Hey, why not…their track record is improving![swg]

How tomorrow crashes…[banghead]

(Balt–you’re right, they should sponsor you. In that hovercraft, you couldn’t lose!)

Not a bad way to Drop 3-4 Million over a Year. Yep that is what that cost them However it will do WONDERS for Employee RELATIONS. Think about it they are the only Class 1 that SPONSORS a NASCAR RACE TEAM and they can Brag about it. Also they can get Employees Pit Passes to all races as Rewards for doing things By the BOOK so look for one HELL OF A SAFTEY IMPROVEMENT. Who as a NaSCAR fan would not want to be in the PITS at DAYTONA Or Talladega.

The number 78 Nascar sprint car has at times run very well…am I remembering correctly, it’s also been in the winner’s circle in the last season or one before.

You do not Win the Southern 500 at Darlington UNLESS you have one HELL OF A CAR.

It’s interesting that they picked about the only team not based in the south to sponsor (they’re a Denver team, believe it or not).

Yep, they won the Darlington race last year. They for once had a great car but they are still a middle of the pack team. Look at their stats from 2007 to now, looks middle of the pack, actually worse to me. They were bottom feeders before 2007. Still its a cool sponsor to have.

Well things must be getting better for CSX if they’ve got the money for a NASCAR sponsorship. Now, how’s about some Heritage paint schemes on some of the locomotives?

BNSF had decals on a “indy car,” at Texas motor speedway couple years ago. While not a full sponsorship they did get some recognition on the car. It was the NYSE sponsored car and at certain venues they were giving large customers the chance to put there corporate logos on the car. I believe it was the NYSE Marco Andretti car.

I don’t know how well the car / team is funded, but I do remember at times they have had their act together, and when that happens…The car is capable of running with the top money teams.

Want the hi-rail wheels put the car at a disadvantage?
