Customer Service Advisory - Washout Delays Traffic on Syracuse-Montreal line
5 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013
CSX crews are working to repair a large washout of track and roadbed just east of Syracuse, N.Y., on the St. Lawrence Subdivision to Montreal. The washout is about 100 feet long and eight feet deep, and will take an estimated 24-48 hours to repair.
The washout is affecting traffic on the Syracuse-Montreal line, and customers with shipments in this area should expect delays.
Customers with questions about shipments can contact the Customer Service Center via www.shipcsx.com or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279) options 5, 6.
Saw what was probably the north end of the work train sitting in the siding at Pulaski tonight on my way home from Syracuse. It was several dump cars and two or three hoppers behind two locomotives.
A post on RR.net said that a local was seen heading north, with the suggestion that it might be going after the south end that was still on the rails.
