CSX tanker wreck in Kentucky

Now…Two scarry things about this.

1-4 cars on a siding rolled onto a main line and ran off on their own.

2-The Byutal Acetate that created the toxic burning cloud that caused the evacuation is an ingrediant in artificial fruit flavoring.[:O][:O][xx(][xx(]

  1. Somebody didn’t tie 'em down. Which way was the wind blowing? And, how hard??

  2. If that stuff really is artificial flavoring, the airborne combustion products are probably more toxic than the liquid.

I understand that CSX actually parked the locos in front of the runaway cars to stop them. What I don’t understand is why they didn’t use something less expensive - like a gondolaload of gravel or steel scrap.

Believe me there, tomikawaTT, if you are trying to avoid a legal entanglement (read: lawsuit) then those lokes were the cheapest thing on the property!!!

That joker who has the CSX-sucks website is gonna love this!

Because they didn’t have much time. I would have thought they woud have diverted them into a siding and derail them instead. Again, probably short on time.
