Well, police officers aren’t exactly known for having high intelligence.

What do you do for a living, Bag groceries?
There’s a pretty lengthy thread on Trainorders about this. Apparently, the officer stopped to go after the people trespassing and radioed the dispatcher that his car was on the tracks. The dispatcher apparently didn’t contact CSX. Sounds like a breakdown in communication.
If they give you an intelligence test to make sure you are not too smart, how do they know you didn’t cheat?
For your sake I hope there is one of those “dumb” officers around when YOU need him/her…but if not, oh well, your loss.
…seems ironic that y’all are coming down on deepspire…all he\she did was post a news story about cops being “to smart for the job”…why dont any of you rally around the fact that New London is discriminating?..and personally ive met grocery baggers that were smarter then most cops…
Newton Township should make the dumb officer pay for a new patrol car. The dummy should NEVER have parked his car on tracks in the first place.
I guess I’d wonder why the officer would leave his cruiser on the tracks. Maybe the LEO had a bit of B&W Fever at that moment. At least nobody was injured.
Very well said!
The lack of respect in this thread for the men and women who protect us is just disgusting. I’m not sure why some members of this forum have such a problem with authority, especially when that authority could someday save their behinds.

With the added comment that “Well, police officers aren’t exactly known for having high intelligence.”
Intelligence pretty much has nothing to do with this story. You can have a perfect score on your intelligence test or fail it miserably. It comes down to COMMON SENSE. Simple common sense.
Whats wrong with bagging groceries? Are you saying that people that bag groceries are less intelligent than most? Everybody has a field that they excell in and pretty stupid in others or have no clue. Even people that have been in their professions for years are clueless, look at some of your supervisors. Can they do all of the jobs that they supervise? Most can, while the others have no clue.
If anybody wants to discuss Nuclear fusion and the splitting of the atom in a vacuum, im game [:D]
FWIW: parking your squad car on the railroad tracks expecting someone else to report it to CSX is a form of stupidity but more of lacking common sense.
Just a thought…maybe the CSX train realligned the tracks so it would hit the squad car and it was a cover-up by the police saying they tried to contact the CSX dispatcher to protect CSX. My money goes on the conspiracy. The train swerved to hit the squad car.
My fun for the day

You guys kill me.
The cop was chasing a metal thief - you know - the kind of people that is making the railroad really anti-trespasser? Got caught up in the moment and stopped on the tracks. Hindsight is 20/20, but crap happens. No one was hurt, so all is well.
SOO,
you summed things up nicely, intelligence doesn’t necessarily mean you have an outstanding job or anything like that. As for the officer, yeah, not a good move…but from what I have seen on the shows they have to make fast decisions about things and unfortunately this guy chose to try to apprehend the guys while not quite thinking about his car. I wouldn’t want the responsibility of a police officer, but we also have to remember we are all human beings and capable of doing less than intelligent things. Thankfully a destroyed squad car was all that came out of it.
LOL…fits the forum
Yes, a fitting end to this thread, too.
