Here you are 8500HPGASTURBINE, and all other members of the forum, pictures of my baby, the Con-Cor CSX veranda turbine!


An overall shot, showing the box as well. The box is the only thing that was made in China, the locomotive was made in the USA!

The mechanism, one motor, dual flywheels. It is a fine runner.


The CSX turbine compaired to a Y6b mallet.

That thing looks awesome!!! It looks like it’s got a heavy frame too. Is that driven by the inner 2 trucks or outer 2 trucks or all 4 of the trucks?

Outer 2 trucks, if memory serves.
And they do run quite well.
A CSX Veranda?

It is the two outer trucks. The inside two just roll, no pick up or anything. The frame has a good amount of weight to it.

Yes, a CSX Veranda, the Easter Bunny brought it to me![:p]

Actually, this was a gift to me from a friend who couldn’t get it running. He said that if I could get some use from it, I might as well keep it. And so, it now has a good home in my collection.[:D]

Love the pictures man. I’m also a huge fan of those turbines. I’ve been trying forever to win one of the UP ones on ebay.

Is it a strong puller?

Well, so far, it will pull everything I have. I usually have it pulling nine or so passenger cars, which causes some of my other locomotives to slip. And I’ve had about 25 pieces of freight on it, which it pulls like there was nothing on it. It tracks well up grades, too, but I don’t know how much it will pull up one.
