CSX, Virginia working on freight yard improvements
I noticed the need for this during my last Amtrak trips through the area.
Why, with all this money spent, will the speed limit only be 40 mph?
Corporate welfare again. Nice that the taxpayers get to foot 85% of the improvement costs. I wonder how much CSX spent in “campaign contributions” to get this subsidy?
I really doubt the Commonwealth of Virginia (it’s not a state) negotiated with CSX on the additional Lynchburg train…
Actually, they probably did, as the last several miles from near Alexandria, across Long Bridge is on CSX. Lynchburg trains use those last miles.
Mr. Nichols, CSX would not need this improvement at all for its freights. Passenger service is the reason, hence the state paying most of the cost.
