I would love to see the old Chessie System…Back!

Chessie system would be great to change the name to,and Chessie system paint on all their locos would be very nice to see.

How about:

Train

The Chessie System Logo would be great to see again, but with CSX painting their

units Blue & Yellow; these “Old Paint Schemes” come to mind!

(Name Also!!)

…Chessie & Baltimore & Ohio Railroad System

Ah C B & Q without the tail - I love it…

…Ok, let’s start campaigning…I think the B&O part belongs there because of it’s history.

Chessie

hmmm thats one cat that can come back!

stay safe

Aren’t you guys eagerly awaiting the new CHILDREN’S INVESTMENT FUND RAILWAY (CIFX?) paint scheme?

Hmmm…maybe the old Chessie paint scheme with the kitten replaced with a wailing infant… [:D]

While I would like a return to the “Bright Future” colors, I can live with the existing colors and I actually like the CSX name.

When i was working in the 80s we were called Chessie System but my pay stubs said Chesapeake and Ohio railway company. But then it became CSX . I say CSX sounds ok now. Although i will say CSX should paint up some heritage units I E Seaboard and B&O, C&O, Clinchfield, RF&P.

I second this motion! I also like the CSX name for some reason and it looks good on the equipment also. The heritage units would be fantastic to see. Jamie

Yep, my stubs said Baltimore and Ohio Railroad until 1986-87. That’s because Chessie System was not a railroad, just a paper holding company. The C&O, B&O, and WM were independent railroads. The B&O had controlling interest in the WM, and the C&O had controlling interest in the B&O. The WM had to be merged into the B&O first, the B&O had to be merged into the C&O next, and finally the C&O changed its name to CSX.

The current CSX paint scheme is a throwback to the C&O and B&O schemes from the 1960’s.

Sounds like all the new directors need do to win public favor is bring back the cat!

Back when “Dark Future” was introduced, I was aghast. In the years since, however, it’s grown on me–maybe because the older units are rusting out. Seriously, tastes change (and, truth be told, the eastern railroads’ paint jobs, which used to be considered “drab”, now are considered “elegant”).

I see no reason to change the name, though–it’s fodder for so many comical “fill-in-the-blanks”!

Needless to say, I second the motion. With the old Blue, Black and grey with gold striping.

How about “Fallen Flag”? [:D]

…Sure, merge the B&O icon and the “I thought I saw a puddy tat…”

Note: On my La Z Boy here in the office…I have a “Chessie Cat” throw…Black and white.

looking through all the names involved, I think the Big O would be apropos. (insert tongue-in-cheek here)

Actually, I get very excited when we see any NS or CSX thru here. Such a nice change in the landscape. And really … it was a cute kitty and while there are people who don’t like cats, it really did soften the image of the railroad for the general public. Maybe we need to go back to some of the “awww” factor in this day and age of so much cynicism

It will be interesting if they change their name no matter what. And at least in the case of around here, start running trains.
