Since more people frequent this part of the forums more often than locomotives it seems, I thought I’d ask here. Does anyone have anything current (since the downturn) on the CSX SD40-2 fleet, how many have been stored, etc. Thanks,

The locomotives section is good too, but far less activity. I don’t have numbers but I know CSX was indeed taking a lot of SD40-2s out of service. Saw a lot less of them on the local main line too. Interestingly, you still see plain SD40s on CSX, both on yard and road service. At least I have noticed some and it’s nice to see them still running.
