Acording to John Allen of RTA,CTA may terminate trains at Midnight instead of going 24 hours If ILLINOIS Genarl Assembly does not send them a major cash infusion soon. This will mean that perhaps thousands of blacks will lose there jobs because they cant get to work and may be forced onto welfare.There is also a implied that If Chicago votes Kerry they will be punished by the Bush admin. and have there transit funding cut.

New York and Chicago are the only cities with 24-hour rapid transit service. Chicago’s only 24-hour lines are the Red Line (Howard-95th/Dan Ryan) and the Blue Line (Forest Park/O’Hare). Most of the other lines operate from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM. There is also a fair amount of 24-hour bus service. Transit funding from the State of Illinois has been a problem this year since the state government has been going through a financial crunch due to the economic downturn.
