CTA tosses bids for new cars, starts process over

Is there any U.S. Company left? How hard would it be to rearrange the seats? Most people are slaves to normalcy, they, including me grew up with those seats face fwd and aft, why would CTA not know that, CTA was told during a test run that most people didnt like those seats, yet they didnt give a &$&), and STILL put sideway facing seats and Cta is now cryin about it.

CTA claimed the sub flooring on the new 5000’s will not properly anchor for/aft seating. So they say. People hated bowling alley seating when they were done away with in new cars with the 4200’s. Why did CTA think people would not mind now?

As a kid, I remember seeing winos sleeping on the bowling alley seats in the 50s. Now they can do it again.

Back in the seventies and eighties in New York City. The transit authority went back to forward, backward and side seats. However, in later years, the TA went back to the “bowling alley” seat arrangement. The IRT division has always had the “bowling alley” seats because of its width. I also know that the PATH system DCs METRO. It seems that a lot of transit systems are going that way.

Chicago has morels.
